A cleanroom wiper should be selected against the cleaning task and acceptance criteria, not from room classification alone. Start with the surface, material to be removed, cleaning chemistry, required particle and residue control, and the validated procedure.
1. Define the task
Record the surface geometry and sensitivity, whether the task is dry wiping or liquid application, the soil or residue, the cleaning agent, and whether the wiper will be single-use or reused. Note any sterility, packaging, or lot-documentation requirements before comparing products.
2. Compare material and construction
Knitted polyester, microfiber, and nonwoven cellulose/polyester constructions behave differently. Compare the actual SKU data for basis weight, thickness, edge treatment, laundering status, cleanroom compatibility, solvent resistance, and packaging. Do not treat two 9 × 9-inch wipers as equivalents simply because their dimensions match.
3. Review contamination and sorption data
When available, examine LPC, APC, NVR, extractable ions, sorptive capacity, and sorptive rate together with the test method and units. Values obtained with different procedures or reporting units are not directly interchangeable. Q-Leap publishes SKU-specific data for QL-3009D-LE knitted polyester wipers and QL-0609-M nonwoven wipers.
4. Confirm cleanroom and chemical fit
ISO 14644-1 classifies airborne particle concentration in cleanrooms; it does not by itself qualify a wiping material for every surface, chemistry, or contamination limit. Use the product's documented compatibility and validate it in the intended process.
5. Compare packaging and commercial unit
Confirm whether price applies per bag, case, or individual item and how many wipers are in each packaging level. This prevents consumption and cost comparisons from using mismatched units.
