Understanding LPC, APC and NVR in Cleanroom Wipers

General selection guidance ยท Review current SKU-specific product data before qualification.

Technical data sheets may report several contamination measurements. LPC, APC, and NVR answer different questions and must be read with the test method, threshold, sample basis, extraction medium, and units.

Liquid particle count (LPC)

LPC evaluates particles released from a wiping material into a test liquid under a defined procedure. The result may be reported by particle-size threshold and sample area. A value such as particles per square centimeter cannot be compared directly with a value reported per complete wiper without converting on a valid basis.

Airborne particle count (APC)

APC evaluates particles released into air under a specified test procedure. Check the particle-size threshold and whether the result is reported per wiper, per area, or by another sample definition.

Nonvolatile residue (NVR)

NVR measures material left after an extraction liquid evaporates. IPA and deionized water can extract different substances, so NVR values must be tied to the extraction medium and units.

How to use the data

  1. Confirm the value belongs to the exact SKU.
  2. Record the method revision, particle threshold, extraction medium, sample basis, and units.
  3. Compare only equivalent measurements.
  4. Set acceptance criteria from the validated process, not from a competitor's marketing claim.
  5. Retain the current technical data sheet with the product approval.

Q-Leap publishes LPC, APC, NVR, and sorption data for QL-3009D-LE and QL-0609-M. Each product page presents the units and cited test method.
